We went to the Ellen Trout Zoo recently. John had never been but Isabel and I had.
It was the first time I had been to the zoo on a day that the little train was running so I was very excited. So was Isabel.
Honestly, I wish we hadn’t done the train first. It was the best part. The rest of the zoo really does pale in comparison.
We had just enough cash to ride the train once. None left over to buy a train whistle.
What people remember most about this zoo are the bazillion peacocks wandering the grounds. They’re everywhere.
It’s impossible to come away from the zoo without at least one decent peacock photo.
I think John’s favorite animal at the zoo was this young jaguar who was being very flirty with him. John said he just wanted to reach in and rub the jaguar’s belly. Isabel wanted me to put her down so she could go pet the big kitty.
I was looking forward to seeing some big tigers. I had been haunted by nightmares about a tiger/dire wolf pack. I thought that I could confront the issue by facing a big tiger. Unfortunately, only this little juvenile was around.
We took some time to watch a little bunny that crossed our path on one of the lawns.
The rest of what we saw isn’t anything to write home about. I think we would have all been up for riding the train again but we had run out of cash. Next time!
